THE Princess Royal, Princess Anne, is visiting Chester today (Wednesday, September 21) to take the salute as the company of HMS Albion march through the city.

Joining her to take the salute will be the Lord Mayor of Chester, Cllr Eleanor Johnson, and Captain James Morley from HMS Albion.

The princess is sponsor of the vessel, which is also affiliated to the city of Chester.

The parade will form up at Castle Square at 10.30am and then proceed on to Castle Street. The crew will then turn into Lower Bridge Street and then onto Bridge Street, before turning right at The Cross and into Northgate Street, after which it will form up at Town Hall Square.

Continuing on, the parade leaves Town Hall Square and heads into St Werburgh Street before turning right into Eastle Street. It then moves back to Northgate Street, returning to Town Hall Square, where the Royal Salute will be taken.

It is hoped that many Chester residents will line the route to show support for their ship and her crew – the Rows in Bridge Street and Northgate should make good vantage points.
