A Cholmondeley teenager’s letter to David Cameron impressed him so much, he asked to meet her personally.

Rachael Farrington spent her half term doing work experience at The Houses of Parliament with Eddisbury MP Stephen O’Brien where she had the opportunity to watch proceedings and attend select committees on issues including the ‘Plebgate’ scandal.

The 17-year-old had previously written to the Prime Minister about how much she admired his efforts to help families with policies like gay marriage, speedier adoption processing, recognising marriage in the tax system and the help to buy scheme.

So midway through her trip to London, Rachael was thrilled to hear that Mr Cameron had been so impressed with her letter that he asked to meet her personally.

She was invited to go on Prime Minister’s Question Time where she sat in front of the security screen with the press, before she was personally escorted into Mr Cameron’s office.

Former Bishop Heber High School student Rachael, who has been running her own company Rachael Design since she was 13, said: “After a brief chat with his staff I was able to come into his office and meet him.

“He was really nice and shook my hand, he wanted to know all about my work experience and school, and he remembered visiting Brine Leas in 2010 with Gary Barlow.

“He even joked about all the girls screaming for him! I had a few photos with him, we shook hands again and I left – it was such an amazing experience,” she added.
