SAFETY checks have been called for on air ambulance helicopters, including those used by the North West Air Ambulance (NWAA), after a technical fault was discovered.
A crack has been discovered on the main rotor hub of a Eurocopter EC135 in Scotland, one of the same type of aircraft used by the NWAA.
It has prompted a safety warning by the European Aviation Safety Agency (Easa), one which the NWAA has confirmed it is aware of.
Pre-flight checks have been ordered for the aircraft while an investigation is to be carried out. About 1,000 of the aircraft are in use across the world.
