A FOSTER carer recruitment event in Cheshire West and Chester has been hailed a success.

The Council’s fostering team staged its first information evening in Chester and 38 people came along to find out more. Most had been thinking about fostering for a while and took the opportunity to explore what was involved with members of the fostering team and current foster carers.

More than half of the people who came along wanted to apply to become foster carers straightaway while the rest took away information to help them make a decision about whether to proceed.

Paul Boyce, head of service for Safeguarding said: “It was a pleasure to see so many people interested in fostering.

“It’s great that people realise the importance of this role and the huge benefits it brings to vulnerable children living in west Cheshire.”

If you are interested in becoming a foster carer there are many children who cannot live with their parents, either for a short period or for the rest of their childhood and need a caring, safe and secure place to live.

The next information evening takes place on April 29.
