CHART topping singer Duffy recorded and performed music written by a Chester songwriter.
The 60s styled Welsh singer, real name Aimee Ann Duffy, recorded songwriter Lucia Cordaro’s I Melt after hearing it in a friend’s dining room.
Lucia, 31, of Weston Grove, Upton, said: “I met Duffy in 2004. She was in Alexanders, just through hearing her voice I thought she was always going to do well.
“I remember speaking to her after the performance, I said I was a song writer and doing a course. I actually tried to get her on it but they couldn’t accommodate an extra person.
“About two months later a friend on the course, David Burton, recorded and produced her doing one of my songs in his studio.
“She asked if she could sing I Melt and make a recording after hearing it on his computer.
“The next time I saw her I heard her practising singing in the toilets at Alexanders, I realised it was my song, and she performed it that night. She’s so gifted.”
