CHESTER Zoo is appealing for help in tracing three Ecuadorian Amazon Parrots .

The birds disappeared during a break-in between 10pm on Tuesday and 6am on Wednesday.

A large cage and feeding bowl were found abandoned on nearby Bridle Way and police have been informed.

It is not clear whether the birds have been stolen or if they escaped during the break-in.

The zoo's chief curator Mark Pilgrim, the Ecuadorian Amazon Parrot EEP co-ordinator, said: 'These birds are very important to us and we would appeal to anyone who may know of the whereabouts of the parrots or have information on the incident to contact the police.

'We would like to ensure the parrots are returned to us safely where they can be cared for prop-erly.'
