POLICE are warning residents of Ellesmere Port and Neston to be on their guard after a series of distraction burglaries this morning (Saturday, April 18).
Two males posing as water board officials conned their way into a house on Rivacre Lane, Ellesmere Port and another in Station Road, Neston between 9am and 10am.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: "Two males knocked on the houses and did not show any identification.
"They claimed to be investigating a water leak and subsequently stole an amount of cash from the homes."
The first man is described as white, in his mid-20s,Šquite well-spoken and of slim build. He is approximately 5'7" - 5'9" tall and possibly wearing dark blue trousers or jeans with a medium-length style coat.
The second man is described as being taller than the first man, of medium build and wearing a dark-coloured jacket.
The matter is being investigated by CID at Ellesmere Port police station and anyone with information should call 0845 458 0000. Alternatively, information can be left anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
