British Transport Police want to speak to this man in relation to two 'frightening' sex assaults which took place on a train travelling between Shrewsbury and Crewe earlier this month.

One of the victims was sitting on a fold-down seat when a male sitting next to her lunged at her, grabbing her twice.

He then touched a second woman's chest as she passed through the carriage.

Victim left 'cowering'

PC Melanie Dodd said: “The man boarded the train at Shrewsbury and left at Stockport. He had mentioned to his first victim that he was from the Leicester area.

“This was a frightening attack that left one of his victims cowering in the corner of the carriage, afraid of what the man’s next move would be.”

Now officers have released a CCTV image of a man who they believe has information about the incidents, which happened on the 12.51pm Arriva Trains Wales service from Shrewsbury to Crewe at some point between 1pm and 1.30pm on Wednesday, August 7.

PC Dodd added: “It is vital we find the man responsible.

"We believe the man in the image will have information about what happened and we urge anyone who recognises him to contact us."

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, or text 61016, quoting reference 141 of August 31, 2016.
