CCTV images show the moment a Chester woman was robbed as she walked near the canal last month.

Police have released images of one of the men they are keen to trace as part of an investigation into the incident that took place in the early hours of Thursday March 15.

They show the 21 year-old being approached by two men who grabbed her handbag as she walked over the canal footbridge on Cambrian Way.

As she struggled to keep a grip on her belongings, the woman was dragged to the floor and both men fled from the scene toward Gladstone Road, stealing her handbag and its contents.

Police are now keen to trace the individual captured on the CCTV image below as part of their investigation and appeal to anyone who recognises him, or the man himself, to come forward and contact detectives.

Although not seriously injured as a result of the incident, the victim was left shaken.

Anyone with any information in relation to this incident, or anyone in the vicinity of Cambrian Road who may have seen the offence take place, are asked to contact DC Steven Marsland at Chester CID on 101 quoting incident 44 of 15 March.

Alternatively information can be left anonymously via Crimestoppers.
