A RESIDENTS group and police have hailed a new initiative which they say has improved communications between the two organisations.

CW10 community action group and Middlewich police have started a new Q&A forum on CW10's website where members of the community can ask officers about specific issues.

PC Mike Senior said: 'Members can request information on specific issues and we can respond with answers which are then posted on the site. It's a good idea and I hope it means that we can build even stronger bridges with residents.'

CW10 spokesman Andy Bailey said: 'PC Senior's replies have been detailed and helpful, which shows that the police are taking this initiative seriously. We think it's a good vehicle for communication between residents and the police and we are delighted with the fact that up to now it seems to be working very well.'

One of the issues raised was a series of death threats made to residents and businessmen in the town.

PC Senior said: 'I was happy to outline the police's attitude to these threats and I hope that what I recommended will reassure people and help them understand how we respond to such incidents.'

Mr Bailey added: 'The threats themselves seem to have stopped for now, which is a very good thing as some people were genuinely terrified by them.'
