People in Frodsham and Helsby are being asked to be extra vigilant after high quality road and mountain bikes were targeted in burglaries over the Christmas period.

Cheshire Constabulary are investigating an increase in shed and garage burglaries in the area.

The offences, which occurred between December 27 and December 28, were committed during the evening and nighttime. The offenders have predominantly been targeting bicycles.

DS Ian Smith said: “We are asking residents to be extra vigilant at this time and to report any suspicious activity. We are also requesting that residents ensure that their sheds and garages are locked and secured.

“Anyone who sees suspicious activity should contact police on 101. Likewise if you are offered for sale a high quality mountain bike in unusual circumstances or at a very discounted price, contact police.”

Anyone with information on the recent burglaries should contact DS Ian Smith on 101, quoting incident number 220 of December 28.
