Up to 20 youths are reported to have engaged in a mass brawl on a street in Neston on Saturday night (September 3).

Now police are appealing for information about the incident, which happened at around 11pm on Raby Road.

PC Graeme Morrison, antisocial behaviour officer at Ellesmere Port Local Policing Unit, told the Chronicle that one minor assault was reported by a witness at the scene, but so far no victim has come forward.

He said: "Police were made aware of a large group of youths who had congregated in an area of Neston on Saturday evening.

"Many of these youths are already known to us for causing anti-social behaviour in the area.

"This is an area of Neston that we are aware of and that has suffered from similar youth nuisance issues in the past.

"The events of Saturday, while not serious, serve as a reminder that we must constantly reinforce the message that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated in our community.

"We are continuing to make enquiries as the identity and actions of all those involved before considering further action."

PC Morrison added that the force carried out an anti-social behaviour operation over the summer holidays – which included engaging with Neston's young people through an Xbox FIFA tournament – which has contributed towards a fall in anti-social behaviour figures for the local policing unit.
