POLICE divers are continuing their search for an Ellesmere Port man who has been missing from hospital for more than two days.
Brian Parsons was last seen when he left his ward at West Cheshire Hospital in Chester to buy a newspaper at 10.30am on Monday.
The 54-year-old is a voluntary patient, and staff became concerned when he failed to return from his regular trip to the newsagents.
Police were informed and, shortly afterwards, found what is believed to be Mr Parsons' jacket and glasses at Ellesmere Port Boat Museum.
Both items were found at the anchor monument, which is where the search was initially concentrated.
Specially trained members of the underwater search team spent yesterday afternoon and this morning searching the Shropshire Union Canal, but have so far failed to locate Mr Parsons. An aircraft was also employed in the search.
Mr Parsons is 6ft tall, medium build with short, dark grey hair. He was wearing a navy blue jumper and navy blue cords, a beige or fair-coloured jacket and black shoes.
Family and friends are extremely concerned for his safety and urging him to get in touch.
A spokesperson for Cheshire & Wirral NHS Trust said: 'We are very concerned for the safety of Mr Parsons.'
The Trust is supporting his family and working closely with the police.
Witnesses who see Mr Parsons or know of his whereabouts should call the police immediately on 01244 350000.
