AN ELDERLY man was attacked by a gang of 15 men while playing snooker on Christmas Eve.

The man was playing snooker at Q-Bar in Volunteer Street between 5.30-5.45pm when he was kicked and punched to the ground by a group of men.

He was later treated for bruises to his face, body and arms.

Constable Martin Redhead said: “Up to 15 men were in the group which was involved in this.

“One of them is described as about 40 and white with a bald head. He was wearing a flat cap and spoke with an accent which might have been Irish.”
