Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in an unprovoked attack in Chester.

At 3.45am on Sunday morning, the 53-year-old victim was walking along Cliveden Road in Lache, Chester after a night out when a man ran from a nearby park and attacked him. The victim was punched to face and fell to the floor, where he was then kicked.

The victim sustained a fractured jaw, along with cuts and bruises. The offender is described as being tall and in his 30s.

Anyone who may have witnesses the incident is asked to call 101, quoting incident 160 of 25 May 2014. Alternatively, information can be given anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
