British Transport Police have released an image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the theft of a bag from a train at Hartford station.

A woman placed a bag containing items worth around £2,000 on the floor behind her seat, but it was stolen at around 12.35pm on January 8.

Now investigating officers have managed to isolate a CCTV image of a man they believe will have information about the incident.

PC Gary Clarke said: “The victim was travelling on the 12.04pm London Midland service from Liverpool Lime Street to Crewe.

"She had placed her black holdall containing clothing, make-up and perfume, to the value of £2,000, on the floor behind her seat.

“A man picked up the bag and left the train at Hartford station.”
