Police are appealing for witnesses following a distraction burglary in Huntington.

It took place between midday and 1pm on Tuesday, October 7 at an address on Butterbache Road, occupied by an elderly female aged in her eighties.

The occupant opened the door to two male cold callers that attended in a white van with ladders on top. They offered to carry out work on her roof and promised to return to conduct this work. While there, they stole a sum of money from inside the house and did not return to the address.

The first offender is described as being in his late teens, short, white, with short dark hair, and slightly plump. The other male was also in his late teens, taller, white, with fair hair, and of thin build.

DC Nigel Moore said: “Although the victim was not harmed she was left very shaken. Enquiries have now established that the offenders in this van have called at a number of other addresses in the Huntington area, particularly around the Butterbache Road area, on October 7.”

It is likely that these offenders have called on multiple addresses in the area and police are appealing for anyone who believed they saw the van or the males with this van to contact DC Moore on 101 quoting incident 497 of October 10, 2014.
