Two boys from Kingsley are motoring to success in the karting world.

Team Kingsley Karting comprises 12-year-olds Adam Homer and Luke Browning, who placed first and third in the Independent Kart Racing Championship at Ellesmere Port’s Hooton Park circuit earlier this month.

Adam and Luke, both pupils at St Nicholas Catholic High School in Hartford, devote most of their weekends to karting and race twice a month.

The boys began in cadet class but are now both in junior class, with Luke in his first season and Adam in his second.

They also enjoyed success at the Independent Kart Racing Championship at the Three Sisters circuit in Wigan, which lasted from April until November.

Luke and Adam competed in the Formula Blue class, which uses adult-sized kart chassis capable of propelling them to speeds in excess of 90mph, and attained 3rd and 1st championship podiums respectively.

Adam’s dad and Team Kingsley Karting’s boss John Homer is a former race driver himself, having competed in the 250cc gearbox class of the British Championships, but admits managing the boys is just as fun.

He said: “Definitely not for the faint hearted, it’s strange really; I worry about kids running hot baths for themselves, yet enjoy watching these boys race.

“I feel the exhilaration and excitement as if I was driving myself and these lads are very talented.

“It teaches the drivers real discipline, encourages a need for knowledge and quick thinking.”
