YOUNGSTERS celebrated the opening of their refurbished play area.
It has been made possible thanks to the hard work of the Tarporley Fields and Leisure Action Group (FLAG) and donations from a number of organ-isations, including The Onyx Environmental Trust, which gave the project £35,104 under the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme.
The cost of the project was £150,000, with phase two costing £67,200.
Funds also came from the Vale Royal Borough Council Rural Delivery Programme and FLAG also raised more than £2,000.
Tarporley play area is the only play facility within the village.
Dedicated mums and dads formed FLAG six years ago to refurbish the playground as it had fallen into disrepair.
FLAG fundraised for the project, organising different events as well as applying to organ-isations such as The Onyx Environmental Trust.
Phase two of the project involved removing a temporary grassed area, previously prepared in phase one; installing the remainder of the toddler and junior play equipment; laying rubberised and tarmac surfaces; and carrying out some landscaping.
A notice board, bench seating, bike locking-posts and litter bins were also installed.
Eddisbury MP Stephen O'Brien, said: 'Having been shown round the new area myself just the other day, its opening is great news for the children and local residents.
