A CHESTER pharmacy is launching a series of potentially lifesaving health checks.

Westminster Park Pharmacy, Castleford Road, is providing free check-ups and advice this month to help combat life-threatening conditions.

Members of the public are invited to attend the launch day on Wednesday, October 22, at Westminster Park.

Tests for ‘silent conditions’ that do not show early symptoms will be offered along with an optional cholesterol test for a fee of £10.

Pharmacy staff want to raise awareness about conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure, especially in those above the age of 40.

Manager Wendy Scott said: “There are an awful lot of people with these silent conditions, such as high blood pressure, and they don’t know they have them.

“We want to help people and give them preventative medicine so we can stop these conditions before it’s too late.

“Our aim is to identify those people who are at risk but don’t know they are.

“They can then be provided with targeted advice on prevention and lifestyle changes.”

No appointment is necessary on the launch day with lifestyle checks taking place from 9.30am-12.30pm and 2.30pm to 5pm.

The consultation will be performed in private by highly trained staff and will include a consultation by the pharmacist.
