THIEVES took an expensive piece of landscaping equipment for the second time in three years during a raid on an allotment shed.

Pensioner and devoted gardener Albert Lowe, from Great Sutton, arrived at his allotment at Whetstone Hey on Monday of last week to find the lock on his shed had been broken off.

And on closer inspection he discovered that his rotavator, worth about £500, had been stolen.

His brother Danny has a similar machine at his allotment in Lime Street, Ellesmere Port, and is desperate to see the equipment returned.

He said: 'It's the second time in three years that Albert has had his rotavator stolen. They are a very expensive piece of equipment.

'He had his shed well locked up but they still managed to break the lock. If anyone is offered equipment like it I'd urge them to call the police so we can try and get it back.'
