An 80-year-old woman was airlifted to hospital after her car collided with a lorry.

At around 2.40pm today on Monday, December 9, an elderly  female driver was trapped in her car after an  accident on Chester Road, Sandiway in Northwich.

Firefighters battled to free the woman, who  was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital  by air ambulance. Her condition is described  as stable.

Two fire engines from Northwich Fire Station attended the incident, which is said to  have involved a lorry and a saloon car.

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance  Service said: “Police were informed and she  was taken by air ambulance to the Countess of  Chester Hospital.”
