A PENSIONER has admitted pushing a woman so hard that she fell and broke her wrist in two places.

Harold Millington, of Valley View, Northwich, told a court that he shoved his victim during an argument at a friend's house on Hallowe'en.

The 68-year-old appeared at Vale Royal Magistrates Court on Thursday when he admitted a charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm. He also admitted breaching a conditional dis-charge imposed for an offence of battery and obstructing a police officer.

Sue Gibson, prosecuting, told the court: 'The victim had been friends with the defendant for several months. On October 31, when the victim arrived at the house at about 11 or 12 o'clock she saw he had already been drinking and was surrounded by cans and a bottle of whisky. At about 4 o'clock an argument between the two started about her seeing other men.

'During the argument the defendant got up and pushed her very hard with both hands using some force on

her stomach. She had no time to stop herself and fell back. She tried to put her arms back but one got caught behind her back and she felt it crack. Her arm began to bruise and swell around the wrist and so she went home. The next morning when she woke up it was very painful. By November 5 she went to Victoria Infirmary and had an X-ray which revealed a fracture to the wrist area.

'After being cautioned he admitted pushing her caused her to fall and break her wrist.'

Quentin Querelle, defending, told the court Millington was sorry for his actions. He said: 'He is an old soldier from the Cheshire Regiment and was discharged honourably. In talking to him it is clear he thinks he needs help. He comes across today as being very remorseful.'

Magistrates adjourned for reports before sentencing on December 2.
