RUSH-hour traffic was brought to a standstill after a pedestrian collided with a car outside the Countess of Chester Hospital.
A 59-year-old man, from Mold, received serious chest injuries after he was struck by a Vauxhall Corsa at about 9.20am on Tuesday.
The man was treated for his injuries at the nearby hospital and is described by Cheshire Constabulary as now being in a stable condition.
The man collided with a blue Vauxhall Corsa which was driven by a 22-year-old female from Denbigh, who was not hurt during the incident.
The vehicle was left with a smashed windscreen and a damaged wing mirror.
Police closed sections of Liverpool Road at its junctions with Mill Lane and the hospital entrance, causing huge tailbacks.
