Hunger pangs seemingly got the better of one lorry driver travelling on the M53 this afternoon (October 19).
Rather than wait to turn off the motorway and find a safe spot to tuck into his lunch, he stopped on the central hatchings near junction 5 at Hooton and even went as far as setting up a special table for his feast.
North West Motorway Police were alerted to his daring dining antics and sent officers to the scene.
When they eventually found him, they slapped him with a fixed penalty notice and gave him 'food for thought', they wryly tweeted.
