LOVED-UP couples are being offered the chance to bid on eBay for a fairytale wedding at Peckforton Castle.

The luxury Cheshire hotel is auctioning off the big day – July 24 – for a fraction of the usual cost.

The average price of a wedding at Peckforton Castle is around £20,000, but couples could have their dream day for a minimum of £5,000.

No bids have been made yet but there is still eight days left. An offer of £6,995 will secure the package outright.

Peckforton Castle announced their offer on the social media website Twitter on Tuesday afternoon, tweeting: “Bid for your dream wedding at Peckforton Castle. Yes you read this right!”

Managing director Chris Naylor said: “The Castle has a great wedding business and is often fully booked for weddings – particularly at weekends – years in advance.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for a lucky couple to have a dream wedding on a prime date. We wanted to take it to the masses and to those who might not necessarily be able to afford a wedding of this scale.

“eBay seemed the obvious choice and a quirky, innovative way to get Peckforton Castle’s name at the forefront of everyone’s minds and conversations.”

The day became available after a couple cancelled due to a family bereavement.

The eBay offer, which caters for 60 adult guests attending the whole wedding, guarantees that the successful bidders will be the only bride and groom on the day.

It also includes help from wedding co-ordinators, a welcome drink, a three course sit down meal and wine, and an evening finger buffet.

The castle is offering use of its chapel for those who wish to add a religious blessing to the day’s events.
