WHEN Waverton teenager Amy Owens set herself the challenge to cycle from the Peak District to Llandudno Pier, she never thought she would raise £1,000 for Cancer Research.

The 15-year-old said: “I wanted to raise money for my Grandpa who is very ill with cancer so I thought why not set myself a challenge and get people to sponsor me. The turnout was brilliant!”

Amy was supported by her dad and received sponsorship from Christleton High School, Kingsway Chapel, her neighbours, friends and from Urenco where she did her recent work experience.

“I am so grateful to everyone who has given and supported me,” she said.

“I cycled 120 miles through the wind and rain. It was hard and tiring, but everyone’s support helped me turn the pedals to get to the end.”
