POLICE say nuisance youth problems in Great Sutton are well on the road to being solved thanks to two biking bobbies.

Community Action Team PCs Mike Lockett and Jim Shrimp-ton are driving forward an initiative to combat rowdy beha -viour from youngsters gathering off Yeoman Way.

The presence of the duo on foot and on bicycles is already attracting a positive response from residents - and culprits are being warned the efforts have only just begun.

PC Lockett said: 'It seems a group of young people have made the parks on these estates their new meeting ground. We're getting reports of under-age drinking, items being thrown in gardens, nuisance door-knocking and noisy, rowdy behaviour.

'It's believed these groups can include up to 40 people aged from around 12 to 17. We've also received reports that young people are gathering in the roads which link the estates and parks, using threatening and intimidating behaviour.'

The two officers and their colleagues are all giving the hot-spot areas attention. PC Shrimpton said: 'We've already confiscated alcohol and will continue to do so. We've also issued a collection of youth nuisance forms.' nTo contact the PCs, ring 0845 458 6373.
