PAT Merrick Labour candidate for Eddisbury says the response she has received today has been “mixed”.

She said: “I am not sure whether its just the gloomy weather, but people aren’t as excited about this as I would like them to be.”

Mrs Merrick has been driving around the constituency in a car covered in red balloons and posters with a loud speaker calling on people to vote.

She said: “We have been trying to get people out of their houses and remind them to vote.

“We have been trying to encourage young people to get involved, especially those in Winsford. They often just don’t seem interested and they should be involved. This is their future, and their childrens future and they need to take notice.”
