MEMBERS of the Chester branch of Parkinson’s UK have given grand levels of support to a Saltney centre.

Branch chairman John Knight and vice chairwoman Ann Edwards joined Parkinson’s UK national and local patron Lord Harrison to present a £2,000 cheque to the MS Support Centre.

Parkinson’s UK branch members have recently begun to use the facilities of the centre, which has existed for 25 years toŠ provide physical and emotional support to people with multiple sclerosis.

Mr Knight said: “The members of Parkinson’s UK – me included – find the facilities provide just what they need to help them cope with the symptoms of their condition; physiotherapy, yoga and complementary therapies, together with the chance of a chat with friends over a cup of coffee, all that makes our lives so much more bearable.”

Also in attendance were the Rt Hon Lord Barry Jones and long-term supporter of the Centre, Lord Wade of Chorlton.

Lord Wade said: “Your centre should be congratulated on trying to open up its charitable services toŠ people with other long-term neurological conditions and it is wonderful Chester has such a marvellous facility to offer to its people and the surrounding area.”
