A NEW side of Dick Whittington will be explored in a panto- mime by a local playwright.

Kingsley Players are to present The Real Dick Whittington – a pantomime written by Arnold Ashbrook of Norley.

The pantomime will be performed at Kingsley Community Centre from Wednesday, January 23 to Saturday, January 26.

Sue Clough, of Kingsley Players, said: “You may have heard of Dick Whittington and how he went to London to seek his fortune, became very rich and was Lord Mayor four times. Well, forget what the history books say.

“This is the real story about how Dick and his cat thwarted an attempt on the King’s life by some evil pirates and how he won the heart of his beloved Alice before he was made Lord Mayor.

“The pantomime has everything – a magician, evil pirates, rats, two charming sisters and a love story. Add to that fantastic music, singing and dancing, and an hilarious script. This is a must-see for all true historians and panto lovers.”

Tickets can be ordered via booking forms which are available in Kingsley from the Co-Op or the Red Bull pub and in Frodsham from The Treasure House or call 07925 516760.
