SCHOOLPALS are baring all in memory of two best friends who died of meningitis within months of each other.
Former Chester Catholic High School students have posed for a calendar raising money in memory of Richard Murphy and Helen Cadden, who both died in 2001 during their first year at university.
The cheeky calendar was dreamed up by the boys’ mums, as an eye-catching way to raise money for Meningitis UK and educate people that meningitis can kill in just four hours.
Model John Hesslewood, from Chester, said: “It was really good fun to shoot the calendar at Wrexham FC, although it was pretty cold.
“Now everyone is spreading the word about the calendar through friends and family networks to raise as much money as possible.”
One friend, Steven Cairns, of Blacon is living in Beijing but is sending his photo for inclusion in the calendar.
Richard’s mum Cath Murphy, of Mickle Trafford, said: “They were always a very close group of friends from St Columbus Primary School through to Catholic High School and all of them including Richard were devastated by Helen’s death, then shocked by Richard’s death so soon afterwards.
“They all live in different parts of the country but they all come back for fundraising events. It means an awful lot.”
