A DIAMOND couple raised £350 for a hospital on their diamond anniversary.
Ron Farren, 87, and his wife Ann, 86, of Little Sutton, had asked for cash in lieu of presents for their 60th wedding anniversary.
They donated it to the heart and lung transplant unit at Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester.
The couple had lost their son Brian 18 months previously. He had required a double lung transplant.
Mr and Mrs Farren, who have another son Keith, daughter Carole Lace and two grandchildren Sarah and Stuart, held a party for family and friends to celebrate the anniversary. They also received a card from the Queen.
The couple have both lived in Ellesmere Port all their lives.
Mrs Farren worked in the bakery trade before becoming a home-help, while her husband worked for Van Leer in the town for more than 40 years.
