Overleigh St Mary’s CE Primary School are winners of the Chester Annual Primary Schools Fencing Tournament after winning all four of their matches.

Two back-to-back 5-0 wins against Guilden Sutton and Queen’s School in late May were followed up by a closely fought 3-2 victory against The King’s School and a comprehensive 5-0 win over Delamere on Saturday, June 20.

Joint team captains James Fawcett and Joe Bamber held the trophy aloft after excellent performances from every single team member.

A spokesperson for Overleigh St Mary’s said: “Finn Jaworsk, Robert Feakes and Emma Shortall put in decisive displays against The King’s School, whilst Nathan Fawcett and Adam John racked up the points in the win over Delamere.

“Everyone in the team really pulled together and were an absolute credit to themselves and the school.”
