CITY centre councillors Gwyn Cooper and Peter Byrne have retired as Labour councillors with ‘a very big thank you to everyone we have represented over the past 22 years’.

They added: “We have taken up many hundreds of cases on behalf of people living in the area and have done our best to get involved in your local issues and to become part of your local community.

“We have met many lovely people and, indeed, have made some very good friends and received many kindnesses from residents.”

Labour’s local government spokesman for the City ward on the new Cheshire West and Chester Council is Bob Rudd.
