IT MAY be missing the RAF fanfare trumpets and the King of Tonga but Chester Cathedral will be offering a taste of the royal wedding 24 hours ahead of the event.
Former cathedral organist Roger Fisher is to return today (Thursday) to perform a lunchtime concert of music for royal occasions.
The programme will include famous pieces used at coronations and other royal events.
Music on offer will include favourites such as Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance No 4, William Walton’s Crown Imperial march, arranged for organ by Herbert Murrill, and Orb and Sceptre, composed by Walton for the Queen’s coronation in 1953.
The recital begins at 1.10pm. Tickets are £5 for adults, £4 concessions, and accompanied under-16s free. They can be bought at the admissions desk.
