A POPULAR music festival in Frodsham raised more than £14,000 for local charities and community groups.

On May 1 hundreds of music lovers flocked to Frodsham hill to bask in the glorious sunshine and dance until the sun went down.

Organisers revealed that the day long event, which saw eight live bands entertain packed crowds and an auction for Take That tickets, raised £14,800 for charity.

On Friday (June 1) organisers of Frodsham Music Festival handed over a multitude of cheques dividing the cash between:

Halton Haven Hospice

4th Frodsham Scout Group

MENCAP

Helsby High School Jazz Band

Organisers have now revealed the dates for next year’s music festival which they hope will be just as successful, confirming that it will be held on Bank Holiday Monday June 4 2012.

Amy Brown of Halton Haven Hospice who entertained the crowds by performing motown classics said that the charity was overwhelmed by the massive donation.

“We received £10,000 from the festival organisers which is just fantastic. This amount of money will make a huge difference to us, and it is incredible to think that so much was raised at such a great community event,” said Amy.
