MOOSE mania has been predicted by Cheshire’s own Dr Dolittle.

Clint Shaw, 50, has imported the only two tame moose from Sweden.

Mr Shaw, the owner of Tarvin Sands Fisheries, has a variety of animals roaming his 30 acres.

“I just like strange things,” he said.

Mr Shaw has plans for a wildlife reserve on the site enabling members of the public to see the animals.

At the moment, only people turning up for a spot of fishing get a glimpse of his menagerie.

Although just more than a year old, the European elk moose, imported from Sweden, have already grown to seven feet tall, enjoy wading through the lake and live on a diet of potatoes and grass.

“They’re just like boisterous teenagers,” Mr Shaw said.

“We go in and stroke them. But you’ve got to respect them. If they don’t want you near them they’ll let you know.

“They’re not going to jump on you and kill you. There’s more chance of me doing that, especially if you leave litter!”

He is now determined to breed the first moose born on these shores for, he claims, 2,000 years.
