SPANISH prosecutors will demand 35-year life sentences for two men accused of murdering a Port shop boss and her husband.
The Venezuelans are due to stand trial in Alicante in March next year.
They are charged with kidnapping and murdering holiday-home hunters Anthony and Linda O'Malley almost three years ago. Mrs O'Malley was manager of TJ Hughes in Ellesmere Port.
The bodies of Mr O'Malley, 42, and his 55-year-old wife, who lived in Llangollen, were found beneath a cellar in a villa near Benidorm.
Mrs O'Malley died of shock following her treatment. Her husband was asphyxiated with a plastic bag after being forced to withdraw £17,000 from the Mediterranean Savings Bank in Benidorm.
Mr O'Malley's brother, Bernard, said of the killers: 'I don't want them to come out of prison ever again.'
The 49-year-old, from Widnes, plans to attend the trial with Linda's daughters, Jenny Stewart, of Blacon, and Nichola Welsh, 32, who lives in Hampshire.
The defendants - South Americans Jorge Real Sierra, 56, and Juan Antonio Velazquez Gonzalez, 42 - will face a five-day trial on March 28-30 and April 4-5
next year. The Spanish state prosecutor wants the Provincial Criminal Court judge to impose a combined 70 years and 11 months sentence if the men are convicted.
The O'Malleys had originally flown to Spain to find a holiday home or somewhere to retire to.
But the couple, who transferred thousands of pounds to a Spanish bank, were lured to a villa and imprisoned in the cellar.
The Venezuelans are charged with murder, kidnapping and holding the couple prisoner for at least five days, stealing money and goods, stealing their hire car and luggage, falsifying documents and illegal possession of firearms.
