BICKERTON Primary School children took a break from lessons to chat to an Olympic star.

The youngsters greeted double gold medal winner James Cracknell when he took a well-earned break in the village during a 1,100 mile charity cycle ride from John O’Groats to Land’s End.

Two other cyclists on the challenge, Stephen Davies and Louis Hill, have children at the school.

Stephen, director of Solar PV company The Green Electrician, said: “I reached Bickerton a little bit later than Mr Cracknell, obviously!

“We are delighted to have all got to Land’s End. It was a team effort and we supported each other throughout the route keeping spirits high.Š Every day was harder than the previous one as our muscles began to ache.”

Stephen and his team mates raised more than £12,500 between them for The Starlight Foundation, Leukaemia Research, Together Trust and The Mango Tree Orphanage.
