IN JUST four years Guide Dogs, with the support of their recycling partner Greener Solutions, has raised more than £750,000 from people donating their old mobile phones to the charity – but now we want to reach the £1m mark and need Chronicle readers to help.

Each year more than 18 million mobile phones are left unwanted in drawers and cupboards at home or at work, with less than 10% of all old mobile phones being recycled.

As part of their £1m for mobility campaign, Guide Dogs needs people to find these forgotten phones and donate them.

The charity receives the same amount of money for each phone it receives, which helps support its work of bringing life changing mobility, freedom and independence to visually impaired people.

People donating their old mobile phones will not only be helping the charity to raise £1m for mobility but going green as well!

Recycling mobile phones helps reduce the amount of non-biodegradable material in landfill sites.

It is very easy to help Guide Dogs raise £1m and go green at the same time – you can put an old mobile phone into a Freepost envelope and post it to the charity, remembering to remove the phone’s Sim card first.

To request your Freepost envelope visit www.guidedogs.org.uk/recycle and complete the online request form or call 0845 603 9779 for more information.
