BUS services in Handbridge are to change when the closure of Chester’s Old Dee Bridge takes place on Monday, August 11.

They are as follows:

Service 16 (First) - Will not serve Handbridge and will operate via the Grosvenor Bridge in both directions.

Service 14 (First) –Will operate as normal, but via the Grosvenor Bridge and Overleigh Road

Service 26 (First) – Will operate via Grosvenor Bridge, Overleigh Road then normal route in the outward direction. This service will return direct from Westminster Park over Grosvenor Bridge. Passengers from Handbridge travelling to the city centre should board the outward journey and will only be charged their normal fare.

Service 17 (GHA Coaches) - Will operate via Grosvenor Bridge, Overleigh Road then normal route in the outward direction. This service will return direct from Curzon Park over Grosvenor Bridge. Passengers from Handbridge travelling to the city centre should board the outward journey and will only be charged the normal fare.

Service 8 (First) Evening Service – Will not serve Handbridge during the Old Dee Bridge complete closure.

Service 150 (Arriva) Will not serve Handbridge during the Old Dee Bridge complete closure

Phase 2 – September 15 until November:

As above except that all services, including Service 16, will operate via Lower Bridge Street and the Old Dee Bridge in the outward direction when the Old Dee Bridge is open to one way traffic.

The Old Dee Bridge is closing to vehicles so that National Grid can renew gas mains and the work has been planned jointly with Cheshire County and Chester City Councils, emergency services and public transport operators.

Pedestrians and cyclists who may have to dismount will still be able to use the bridge.
