AN INTERNATIONAL delegation of sport development officials visited Vale Royal to see a demonstration of a new fitness programme for children called Infant Agility.

More than 120 local children from local primary schools in the borough took part in the event at Frodsham College.

The special demonstration was organised after officials from Spain and Norway heard about the new programme. The delegation was led by the Director General of Education, Alicia Delibes, from Madrid and Bente Sjothun, a physical education advisor from Norway.

Sporting coach George Bunner, in partnership with Vale Royal, Halton and City of Liverpool Councils, has developed the programme.

George said: 'I am delighted that this new programme is receiving international attention so soon into its development.

'Sportshall Athletics, the first programme we developed, in conjunction with local councils and schools, became a national event and has been adopted in over 30 countries.

'The aim is to combat obesity in young people through taking exercise and is a great example of the national structure being encouraged by the Government.'

Interest has also been expressed by groups in Korea, South Africa and the Middle East, who will soon be visiting the UK.
