A dedicated Rotarian from Wincham who has served with the organisation for 42 years has received a special award.

Frank Smith was presented with the Double Sapphire Paul Harris Fellowship by John Walton, president of the Rotary Club of Northwich.

The award was requested by the District 1050 Governor for Frank’s contribution to Rotary at local, district and international levels.

Frank, also a member of Wincham Parish Council, has been in a lead in Rotary’s youth work for many years, including the Young Chef competition.

Mr Walton said: “Rotary is based on service about self and Frank Smith has clearly lived by this.

“Frank has always been interested and supportive of others, especially young people.

“The members of the Rotary Club of Northwich were delighted to have had the opportunity to present this to Frank.”

Frank’s interest in Rotary was piqued as a boy, when he used to watch the men leave their businesses and head to their club meetings.

He has served as club president in Spark Brook in Birmingham, Northwich and Northwich Vale Royal.
