A personal trainer from Northwich is gearing up for a volunteering adventure in Africa, after vowing to return to the continent she fell in love with six years ago.

Lesley Teall, 43, will spend two weeks teaching orphans when she travels to Rwanda with the Global Volunteer Network in April.

Lesley climbed Kilimanjaro in 2009 and has been eager to revisit Africa ever since.

She said: “I completely fell in love with the place and the people.

“The children are so happy and really don’t ask for much at all.

“I promised myself that I would return one day.”

Lesley is funding the trip herself, but is inviting people to make donations on a fundraising page she has set up so she can purchase sports equipment and stationary for her future pupils.

She added: “I think my experience in Rwanda will be so rewarding and something I will be very proud to be a part of.

“I am most looking forward to teaching the children sport and being part of their lives, albeit for a short time.

“I think when I return I will look at things very differently.”
