Film fans get excited. An opening date for Northwich’s brand new Odeon has been announced.

The five-screen cinema at the £80m Barons Quay development will open on December 15.

Just in time for the latest Star Wars film.

Odeon Northwich general manager Andy Elvis said: “It’s fantastic to see all the planning taking shape in the new cinema.

“We received an astounding 350 applications for the upcoming roles at Odeon Northwich and we’re delighted to welcome our new dynamic team.

“We can’t wait to deliver the exceptional customer service expected by our guests.”

The Odeon will create 40 jobs and showcase the latest technology including a state-of-the-art ISense screen allowing guests to enjoy the latest blockbusters in ultra-HD.

There will be a total of 707 seats across the five theatres.

CWaC cabinet member for economic growth and infrastructure Brian Clarke said the cinema would be a ‘great leisure and entertainment experience’.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is released in the UK on December 15 and has teased the return of Darth Vader.

A new leisure quarter overlooking the River Weaver, Barons Quay will also feature restaurants, shops and 900 parking spaces.

The ‘first phase’ of its development is planned to open by the end of this year.
