The family of a Northwich youngster who suffers from a muscle-wasting condition is one step closer to being awarded a garden makeover.

Votes flooded in after the Chronicle featured the Healeys’ bid to win MyBuilder’s competition last week.

Having received 1,048 votes, they qualified to be one of the lucky 12 shortlisted entries.

Mum Gail, 42, said: “We are so excited to be shortlisted. It was quite close on the last day of voting and we thought we wouldn’t make the top twelve but with the help of friends and family and readers, we did.

“We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who voted and shared the link. The children are very excited to see if we win and hopefully get a new garden.”

Ten-year-old Dillon has Duchenne muscular dystrophy and struggles to use the three big steps down to the garden.

Gail explained they would install a ramp if they won so that the Hebden Green Community School pupil could access outside more easily to play with his two sisters, 14-year-old Ella and Matilda, 7.

MyBuilder – an online market place that connects tradespeople with homeowners – will now decide who will win £1,000 worth of materials and the services of a MyBuilder tradesperson to help them realise their dream garden.
