FRODSHAM has welcomed a recruit in the fight against crime and anti-social behaviour.

PC Nikki Mankee is setting her own agenda to tackle anti-social behaviour in the Western Rural Neighbourhood Policing Unit.

PC Mankee said: 'Anti-social behaviour can have a devastating effect on a community. We know that it's an issue people have real concerns about and that's why my role is needed - to ensure we can help the people whose life is being made a misery.'

Another part of her role is to monitor prolific and persistent offenders to ensure they are dealt with swiftly and effectively.

PC Mankee said: 'We don't just want to stop anti-social behaviour. We want to stop it happening in the first place.

'We also want to provide guidance and support to those responsible for committing it to help reduce the chances of them causing problems again.

'It can be frustrating for people because they often feel nothing is being done to address something which is making their life a misery.

'I'd like to reassure people that this is not the case.'

She added: 'We need people to be our eyes and ears.'
