MEMBERS of the Chester and Wirral based Arabic dance troupe Ya Raqs are holding a fundraising event in aid of Claire House Children's Hospice, with a little help from ancient Rome.

The troupe, who regularly perform at events in the area with the Roman soldiers of Deva Victrix, are hosting an evening of Egyptian dance and Roman gladiators at the Ellesmere Port Royal British Legion in Stanney Lane on Saturday, April 30 at 7.30pm.

The evening will begin with a middle eastern dance show, with performances by Ya Raqs and a number of local teachers.

The second half of the night will be a gladiator show, presided over by Caesar himself, with a chance for the audience to cheer on their favourite.

There will also be a raffle and buffet and a disco.

Tickets are £10, and must be purchased in advance. Please send a cheque, payable to A E Rowland, and an SAE to 14 Gaymoore Close, Chester, CH2 1BH.
