A NEW consultant at Leighton Hospital in Crewe has quite literally returned to his roots

Consultant histopathologist Dr Paul Simcock was born at the hospital in 1973 and grew up in Sandbach.

He joins the pathology team and is taking a lead role in urology and upper gastro-intestinal pathology. He will also assist with autopsy services for the coroner.

Dr Simcock trained in the West Midlands, primarily at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.

This is his first full-time consultant post.

He added: 'It feels a little strange to be working at the hospital where I was born and taken to with childhood ills. But I am looking forward to working with the team and hope to move back into the area in the near future.'
